Amnesty International set up to promote and defend human rights has designated Beira’s Place, an Edinburgh women’s support centre for sexual assault victims founded by JK Rowling as “anti-rights”. Amnesty UK’s latest report, A Growing Threat – the Anti-Rights Movement in the UK, identifies organisations it categorises as part of the UK’s “gender critical” movement.
The report states: “Human rights are interconnected and mutually reinforcing. When the rights of one group are restricted, protections for others can also be weakened, even where the effects are not immediately visible.”
The opposing view from FWS (For Women Scotland) comments it “is only ‘anti-rights’ if you don’t consider women to be entitled to any rights in law or public life. It’s a sad state of affairs that Amnesty has sunk so low as to defame prominent women’s organisations, including a rape crisis centre and support networks for abused wives and children.”
The UK Supreme Court 16 April 2025 ruling was supposed to put an end to the argument when it stated that sex is rooted in a person’s biology at birth and there is no retrospective classification for sex, though there may be for gender for certain purposes. The biological definition allows for single-sex services and facilities (such as changing rooms, domestic abuse shelters, and hospital wards) to restrict access strictly to biological women.
And so it goes on.
I have given up on trying to pin an astrological timeline on the furore. Recently since 2012 Neptune in Pisces = delusional. Uranus in Taurus = anti-the-biology, rebelling against nature since 2019. The UK trans children’s centre set up as Uranus moved into Aquarius in the late 1990s, having been conjunct Neptune. Historically Neptune Uranus appears to have some connection.

Amnesty is set for an upheaval this August from tr Uranus square their Pluto; and ongoing pressure thereafter as tr Pluto is conjunct their Jupiter for over confidence in 2027/28 and a rapid fizzle out as tr Pluto moves to square Neptune and oppose the Mars into the end of the decade.
Stonewall, 24 March 1989, London, which hitched its wagon to the trans-cause after the LGB argument was largely won, is another Gemini organisation facing major changes with tr Uranus conjunct the Sun this year and tr Neptune as well starting the long haul in square to its triple conjunction Capricorn planets – square Uranus this year and moving onto Neptune Saturn towards the turn of the decade.
There is also a militant transgender group on the go, urging urging supporters to identify “transphobic” targets and then “hit them repeatedly until they desist from their activities”.
Calling themselves “Bash Back”, they have their origins in a historical radical LGBTQ+ anarchist network active in the US from 2007 to 2011 who embraced militant, confrontational tactics. More recently Bash Back (Modern UK Direct Action Group) surfaced in the UK in 2025, to oppose anti-trans legislation and the restriction of puberty blockers with illegal direct actions, including property damage and hacking. They vandalised the constituency office of Secretary of State for Health Wes Streeting, during the night of 31 July 2025 after he was responsible for an indefinite ban on provision of puberty blockers. The group declared the beginning of a ‘new era of trans rage’ against events they perceived as hostile to trans safety.
That incident occurred when Saturn Neptune were conjunct in Aries sextile Uranus in Gemini and Pluto in Aquarius.

Amnesty’s 22-page briefing has since been withdrawn and an internal review launched. The charity has said it was published without the usual checks.

I understand the distress this debate causes many transexuals—dysphoria is real and painful.
However, comparing policy criticism or biological reality to pre-WW2 blood libels is hyperbolic and unhelpful.
Institutions have shifted because evidence (Cass Review) showed weak support for youth medicalization, not activist failure.
Biology is immutable: surgery and hormones don’t change sex, as the Supreme Court and updated guidelines affirm.
Robust media debate and political caution reflect growing concerns over safeguarding, not persecution.
Truth and compassion both require acknowledging these realities.
@Marina most of your points are right on, but this business of blaming your issues in the UK on a “deeply misogynistic US ideology” is a classic case of deflection. The impulse to transgenderism existed in human society for centuries before the U.S. was even a glimmer in Thomas Jefferson’s eye; we hardly invented it, and we certainly didn’t originate misogyny and the marginalization of women.
The truth is, the pro-trans (male) extremists in your midst have been much more active, much more normalized, and much more successful than they’ve been here–all while enjoying an astonishing (and, to Americans, unthinkable) amount of cover from your own government (e.g., the NHS-funded Tavistock Centre, government-funded rape crisis centers where traumatized women are expected to submit to hectoring from misogynist male “trans women,” etc.). In fact, radical trans activists here (not a significant or influential cohort, to their own frustration) have tended to regard the U.K. as the “promised land” of transgender rights.
While average Americans typically adopt a (fairly) live-and-let-live attitude toward *adults* who seek to change their gender, there is zero widespread support for biological men taking over women’s spaces and hijacking women’s sports, or for irreversible surgery and the use of puberty blockers for children under 18. (Parents and doctors who buck this medical wisdom do so at their own legal risk here.)
In short, I’m glad you’re collectively waking up to this problem in British society–but it *is* a U.K. problem. We’re certainly not the reason for the U.K.’s previously nonsensical approach to this issue.

It’s so sad, unnecessary and unjust. These trans groups are terrorists, not freedom fighters.
I live in a bog standard English town now city, where a well known local councillor, elected while male, transitioned without fanfare or comment, just a name change.
They worked hard on behalf of the community and were always approachable and responsive, taking up and fighting issues that concerned residents. They still do, with majority increases at each election.
Obviously their transition was noticed not least because their new appearance is not traditionally feminine.
There’s still no comment. It’s not an issue. They do not make an issue of it either politically or personally. They’re welcomed and admired for their genuine niceness and hard work. They’re accepted for the person they are.
I’m sure there are aspects of their new way of being that are not all joy. but like everyone else they’re dealing with them in their own way – not by terrorising cancelling, incessant bullying or proselytisation.
There must be many, many people like this who transitioned to be at peace with themselves. It’s outrageous that groups who pretend to advocate for them are jeopardising their safety. And ours.
In the late 1970’s/early 80’s I was a volunteer in Amnesty’s anti torture writing campaigns, even applying and being interviewed for a job. But I realised I just couldn’t work with people so committed and sure that they were always right and on not just that issue.
I was a boarder in a convent school in the 1950/60 pre Ecumenical period. My experience (as well as my aquarian sun and mercury, aries moon) inoculated to me ever being subsumed into group think, cults or doctrines. Unfortunately a lot of campaigning and activist groups tend to be like that. Questioning and independent thought are not high on their agenda.
@Zita, I too have the deepest of sympathy, compassion and respect for the majority of trans people who are just quietly trying to live their own best lives despite the rage and animosity the extremists inflict on them.
As I’ve mentioned here before: I have four friends with trans children, most now adults, just trying to live fulfilling fulfilling lives as responsible citizens, not infringing or harming anyone else.
There’s also a trans congresswoman from Delaware and another who’s a state senator from Virginia (who deliciously defeated a viciously bigoted anti-gay, anti-abortion, anti-women’s rights Republican) with strong legislative records serving the public. Both have kept their heads down, done their jobs consciencely and are reelected based on their, all the while ignoring the hate directed at them.
I wish we could get to the point of “live and let live” and let people be who they are without vilification. It strikes me that so much of the transphobia and homophobia is genned up purely for political and power reasons.

It must be my Scorpio NN/Uranus/Venus now hit by Aquarius Pluto, but I just wish we’d come to some sort of a sensible place with Trans Right discussion. Personally, I have never experienced any kind of gender or sex dysmorphia, and this is likely the reason why I’ve always had a common sense approach for people who feel this. My first exposure to trans women would have been seeing South American trans sex workers in Italy. These people were the most vulnerable of vulnerables when it came to violence and abuse. A person I respect to this day had his military with carabinieri, confided in me having watched his commanding officer sexually abuse one of these girls in Rome what must have been a year prior to Stonewall. Imagine being a 19–year–old boy and powerless in that situation. This scarred him, but also has made him a staunch ally to this day.
But in contributing myself, I honestly have lost any trust in Amnesty since 2022, when a report by a paid collaborator accused Ukrainian Military tactics for endangering civilians. It seems they are detached and fail to see ulterior motivations of people. A perfect demonstration of their Gemini Sun and Scorpio Moon/Neptune. In particular, I would not trust them to be able to find abusers who are, unfortunately, often wolves in sheep’s clothes hiding in ONG structures.
The sensible place is what all the women opposing their loss of rights dignity and safety including JKR,have said from the beginning – dress however you like, call yourself whatever you like, but do NOT infringe on womens safe spaces from prisons to rape crisis to breast feeding centers to childrens toilets , personal care of the disabled, hospital wards etc, nor steal their places on podiums and boardrooms nor steal their language, nor encourage confused kids to be mutilated and fed drugs that cause ostepenia, early onset dementia sterility and constant medical attention to their unhealing wounds. I don’t think people belonging to a group supposedly safer/more privileged than any other would be killing themselves at greater numbers than average.
And I also don’t think TERF groups are totally harmless either – the vitriol on gender critical subreddits/forums gets frightening.
Quite a lot of transphobic outrage seems to be earlier anti-gay messaging copy and pasted with the word ‘trans’ substituted.
Is there also a possibility that outside forces who want to undermine the UK have assessed the anger in the trans debate here and are fuelling more extremist thinking on both sides of the argument to deepen the divide? Worth a consideration.
I don’t know what exactly caused this situation astrologically but Neptune in Pisces for the last 14 years has not in general promoted clarity of thought or reasoned debate.

That’s a fair point. I will however re-state my opinion that claiming trans people in the UK are somehow safer/more protected than any other demographic is just completely wrong. The UK has plummeted from being one of the most LGBT friendly nations in Europe ten years ago to being closer to Russia in the metrics, and from what I can tell that decline is pretty much entirely down to transphobia. When pretty much every news outlet in the country (including the liberal media such as the Guardian) is printing transphobic material then you simply can’t try and claim that trans people are somehow less persecuted.
Also it is interesting that the trans debate seems to entirely revolve around trans women as the target point – trans men are barely mentioned in it, ditto non binary/gender fluid folks.
Returning to the astrology factors. I don’t think Uranus in Taurus has helped the situation at all. That is possibly one of the least comfortable combinations in the zodiac as the energies are so different – or when they do synchronise it can be in the form of a conservative revolutionary zeal (which sounds like an oxymoron, but take a look at how the US right has spent the last 7-8 years promoting ‘traditional’ values), and it seems that it was during this transit that the transphobic crusade seen across the world in these last few years really took hold.
I don’t mean this as a 100% comparison but it was during the time of the last Uranus in Taurus transit in the 1930s and early 1940s that the Nazi persecution of the Jews was fully realised, reaching its zenith in the ‘Final Solution’ of mass extermination adopted as policy during the Wannsee Conference of 20 January 1942 as Uranus was in the last four/five degrees of the sign (incidentally, Saturn was sextile Uranus at the time of the 1935 Nuremberg Laws and widely conjunct Uranus when the ‘Final Solution’ was approved).
I will point out that the trans/gender variant people I know aren’t fetishists and are not trying to erase women/men/cisgender identities. They are simply realising that identity is not a binary matter but a spectrum and are finding their own identity accordingly. They are just trying to live their lives like everyone else. I agree that as with any cause there are activists who take things too far but the general tone of the discourse here and in the wider world is getting to the point of blanket assumptions that “all trans people are dangerous perverts” and once things go down that road it is deeply worrying as history shows this doesn’t end well.
It also may not have occurred to some people but throwing their weight onside in support of hardline gender critical advocates is only likely to actually increase the relative influence of the hardline trans activists mentioned above, as more trans people will feel increasingly persecuted and consequently may start being more receptive to measures that they would have probably rejected a decade ago for being too extreme.
Essentially it seems that we may be getting or already are at a stage where gender critical advocates and trans people both feel like they are in a war of survival, which is deeply concerning. Once again I would venture to suggest just who benefits from creating and maintaining a situation whereby a Western democratic society like the UK can be affected and divided by a previously relatively low-key issue in such a way…
It’s heartbreaking. High suicide rates, fuelled by serious mental health issues, trauma, and co-morbidities that transition often fails to resolve. Many end up lifelong patients with irreversible complications and regret, as countless de-transitioners attest. True compassion requires honest mental health care, not rushed medicalization.
Unfortunately the trans-captured Amnesty hitlist has also included gay groups such as the GLB Christians. They don´t think gay people should be able to meet and organise without trans people present – which is kind of whacky because trans people have their own groups too.
It is particulary worrying that Amnesty has been captured because the transrights movement has also attached itself to international development agencies so there may be more conutries in the future where its OK to be trans but not gay – which means that gay people may be encouraged to have “sex change surgery” to survive – as is the case in Iran and Pakistan today.
Sorry but this kind of stuff is reminding me all too much of the reams of anti-Semitic exaggerations and flat out lies that permeated European society pre WW2. Look up the blood libel conspiracy.
If UK society is so captured by radical trans activists as people are saying, then why is the UK media printing transpobic articles on a practically daily basis, why is no major political party apart from the Greens seemingly willing to stand up for trans people, and why have things been allowed to get to the stage where the UK Supreme Court can rule that trans people essentially don’t exist because biology can’t be changed and that their ruling has now been codified into official guidelines. If the ‘radical trans activists’ are as all powerful as people here are claiming then they don’t seem to be making that much headway.
